Experience

Nick York is a lawyer, entrepreneur and strategic business advisor with clients ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies, universities and national non-profit organizations. In addition to a 20+ year legal career, Nick has been an owner, investor and director of several companies, including his holding company KASER Enterprises, LLC.

Prior to his most recent entrepreneurial endeavors, Nick practiced law with firms in Cleveland, Chicago and Columbus. He was a partner in a large national law firm where he served as the Chair of the Business Department which included all of the firm’s transactional practices. Prior to that, Nick founded and chaired the firm’s Public Law and Finance practice group, which included government affairs and finance work at the state level as well as in Washington, DC.

Nick has served as Vice Chair of the University of Akron Board of Trustees, a nine-member board responsible for management of the 25,000+ student state university. Nick’s work at UA focused extensively on Strategic Planning and Student Success.

Nick has been a champion of entrepreneurship on the national level as a Board Member of the National Small Business Association (NSBA) in Washington, DC. and as Vice Chair and Board Member of the Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE), which at the time was among the largest small business member organizations in the country.

Nick is an avid student of history, politics, and entrepreneurship having spent his entire career at the intersection of business, law and government. Nick is also a runner, triathlete and sports fan. But Nick’s greatest joys in life are his wife Karry and their four children, Alex, Sophie, Edgars and Ryan for which his holding company KASER Enterprises, LLC is named.

Civic and Professional Engagement

Nick has played leadership roles in a number of community and non-profit organizations focused on improving the lives and conditions of the communities around him. Nick is a Co-founder and board member of the Mindful Nation Foundation (MNF). Inspired by the book, A Mindful Nation, by his long-time friend, Congressman Tim Ryan, Nick helped launch the organization to bring together the best in cognitive science, community leadership and proven techniques to develop community programs to improve the lives of Veterans, Children, Teachers, Healthcare providers and Leaders.

Nick has been recognized for his leadership and community involvement throughout his career, having been selected as a member of the prestigious Leadership Cleveland Class of 2009 and as a Crain’s Cleveland “40 under 40” in 2004.
