Spotlight on Volunteers in the Cleveland Legal Collaborative

“It’s no surprise the tagline of the Bar Foundation is Lawyers Giving Back. You give back in so many ways, and you continue to give back year after year. As we prepare to launch the Cleveland Legal Collaborative this July, I want to focus on three volunteers who are stepping up in a big way to help shepherd our first cohort of fellows through their experience.

As we began to imagine what the Collaborative would look like, we knew close mentor relationships with seasoned, experienced attorneys would be important.  These practice advisors have committed to being the one-on-one coach to a fellow for the entire 18-month experience. They will be the sounding board for our new lawyers, helping them navigate a new practice, and how to serve a population in need…

Scott Heasley, a partner at Meyers, Roman, Friedberg & Lewis. Scott is a longtime Lawyer Referral Service member, with vast experience serving the Collaborative’s target population, many of which will come through the Referral line. Even with a busy law practice, Scott also volunteers with our Say Yes to Education program, a partnership with Legal Aid and the Cleveland Metropolitan School District to provide access to legal services to all CMSD children and their families. But he wasn’t done there!  Scott was one of the first attorneys to step up over a year ago and offer his mentorship to one of our fellows.”
