The Green Elephant: Cannabis in the Workplace

Almost everyone is well-aware of the passage of House Bill 523, the new Ohio law which authorizes the use of cannabis for medical purposes in the State of Ohio. However, some employers are in the dark as to how this new statute will affect their business(es).  The law provides “safeguards” that supposedly will allow employers to maintain drug-free workplace programs and reasonable human resources policies with respect to the prohibition of cannabis use. Representatives from Meyers Roman (Steven P. Dlott and David V. Croft)  and the Oswald Companies (Darlyn A. McDermott)  are co-presenting a seminar to clarify the myriad issues involved with cannabis in the workplace, especially:

  • The new Cannabis Law’s impact on Ohio employers;
  • Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI), Crime/Fiduciary and Risk Management issues underlying the new law- including Q/A with Industry Experts
  • The myths and misconceptions of Post-Accident Drug Testing.
